Total Extended Care Services is seeking a Supervising Physiatrist (MD/DO) to provide clinical oversight and support for our team of Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants) delivering Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation services in sub-acute rehabilitation settings.

This position is ideal for a board-certified or board-eligible PM&R physician who enjoys mentoring clinicians, ensuring quality standards, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. While maintaining involvement in patient care, the primary focus of this role is physician supervision, clinical leadership, and quality assurance.

Position Overview

Schedule: Flexible

Setting: Sub-Acute Rehabilitation and Post-Acute Care Facilities

Primary Focus: Clinical supervision, quality oversight, interdisciplinary collaboration, and support of Advanced Practice Providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the supervising physician for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants providing PM&R services.
  • Provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and support to APPs regarding patient care and treatment planning.
  • Review, audit, and monitor clinical documentation to ensure compliance with company standards, payer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct chart reviews and quality assurance activities to promote accurate and timely documentation.
  • Collaborate with therapy departments to support comprehensive rehabilitation programs and patient-centered care plans.
  • Communicate with primary care providers, specialists, facility leadership, and rehabilitation teams to coordinate care and improve outcomes.
  • Participate in case reviews and clinical discussions as needed.
  • Maintain oversight of PM&R services and support quality improvement initiatives across assigned facilities.
  • Perform physician evaluations and consultations as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Active Ohio medical license
  • Ability to supervise Advanced Practice Providers in accordance with state regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Reliable transportation

Preferred

  • Board Certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience
  • Experience in post-acute care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care settings
